Season One is over. The investigation is not.
In the third episode of The Aftermath, we return to Captain Hank Bertsch, who oversaw Ted Braden’s case at Fort Dix after Braden was captured in the Congo and returned to the United States.
Bertsch handled soldiers facing court-martial for going AWOL or deserting. He called them his “clients.” Most were young men. Ted Braden was nearly 40, and his treatment was anything but ordinary.
Braden received privileges other prisoners weren’t allowed. Nearly 60 years later, Bertsch has never forgotten him. Remarkably, he’s still investigating Ted Braden today.
In selected excerpts from our new two-and-a-half-hour interview, Hank shares new details about Braden’s confinement, his treatment by the Army, and the circumstances surrounding his departure from military service.
Season 2 debuts in 2027. Hear The Aftermath episodes bi-weekly between Seasons 1 and 2.
